NQSS this week – January 28

Was it really just last week that a winter wonderland descended on us?!   We returned to our usual programming this week with buckets of rain followed by beautiful, amazing sunny days!   Hopefully our friend local graphic designer Tammy Lyon is out there taking advantage and riding her bike!  I did my “homework” training run on Thursday and it was beautiful but there was still a bit of ice, so please take caution if you’re out there on the sidewalks.

Our local schools want to remind you to register as soon as possible if your child is entering Kindergarten in September as staffing numbers are based on the information they have in February.  If you’re looking for preschool options, there is an open house at Creative Kids preschool in Colebrook this weekend.

Our baby group had a great turnout this week as Dr. Brian Gluvic from Village Health Clinic spoke about infant nutrition and introducing solids.  Big thanks to Bethany-Newton United Church for the space and to local realtors Greg & Liz Holmes who provided much-needed coffee and snacks.

Speaking of babies and kids, if you’re looking for great deals, check out the Cloverdale Kids Swap Meet tomorrow.  I’d also love to hear if anyone has been to the “new” Cloverdale Market (formerly the Cloverdale Flea Market) on Sundays, I have been wanting to check out the changes!

I happily handed out contest prizes this week!  Gift certificates from The Mom Spa, tickets to the Gordon Neufeld keynote from the Children The Heart of the Matter Conference planning committee, and smoothies from Booster Juice Panorama Village.  You can still win more prizes!  Check out the NQSS contests page and make sure you’re entered!

Please continue to complete the NQSS survey, I am loving all the feedback and your ideas.  So far, one of the things you overwhelmingly want is more content related to development in our area, so I’m definitely looking into that this week (me too)!  What else … let me know!
